Unique Collaboration Unites Poets and Artists
In a one-of-a-kind celebration of National Poetry Month, the Central Coast artists’ group, Fibervision, will be presenting a tangible interpretation of the works from poets of Santa Barbara. The exhibition, From Verse to Visual, will make its inaugural debut at Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center in Santa Barbara, with a combined reception for poets and artists on Wednesday, April 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
In that magical setting overlooking the ocean, poets will offer readings of the poetry that inspired artworks in the uncommonly expressive form of textiles. “Chinaberry Dreams”, by artist Lora Martin, is a depiction of Martin’s selected poem, Chinaberry Tree on Calle de Parian by poet Melinda Palacio. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be offered during the reception. Following the exhibit at Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center, which runs from March 30th through May 22nd, From Verse to Visual will travel for exhibitions in other cities. The exhibit will also include separate works by Fibervision artists, as part of the annual Fibervision “New Views” exhibit.
Fibervision, a group of 25 Santa Barbara area artists whose focus is contemporary art quilts and surface design, can be found at www.fibervisionaries.com. This unique and diverse exhibit includes many techniques of textile art.
Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center is located at 1118 E. Cabrillo Blvd., Santa Barbara, CA
93103. There is no admission charge for the April 13 reception. Tel.: 805-897-1982. Please call for daily exhibit times.
